Having a plan

This fall I will have to move some of my iris. It turns out the location they are currently in is much too crowded and they are not getting the sun they need. I like iris because they are so simple to plant. Resting at the top of the soil makes them a great plant to be in south sun under a tree where the roots are thick. I was thinking how you can have a garden plan, but not plan a garden. You start out with the plants you like and determine where to place to them, considering size, texture, color, bloom time and watering needs and then you do. A year or two go by and time reveals the plan needs some rethinking. Maybe a plant is being held back because it is getting too much watering, or not enough sun. Maybe what you thought would look beautiful next to each other, really detracts from the beauty of each plant, or the most common mistake I still find myself making... planting too close together. I only have so much garden space you know.
I think my life reflection is obvious in this post. Too little time, too much to do. What I think is a good plan turns out to need reworking and different considerations. I can have a life plan, but the reality is, I can not plan life. No matter how hard I try to figure out all the variables, I must humbly bow to my creator, who can, of course not only plan my life, but the life of all those around me. That to me is as baffling as infinity.
I can't say all my entries will go like this, but it is my inspiration for sharing.
